Steve “Tomahawk” Townsel hopes the third time's a charm when it comes to finally fighting Chris Sarro.
Townsel and Sarro were scheduled to fight twice in 2022, but Sarro was forced to withdraw from both bouts before they came to fruition. Now, they’re scheduled to finally do battle at BKFC 38 on March 17 in Delray Beach, FL, LIVE on The BKFC App.
“After the fight fell through twice, I was ready to move on. But BKFC ordered it, and I’m going to give it to them,” the Fort Pierce, FL cruiserweight says with a laugh. “I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me, it doesn’t matter to me.”
“Tomahawk” insists it will be worth the wait come BKFC 38.
“I don’t see this fight going much past the second round; this one is going to be a banger,” he says. “Both of us are big, heavy-hitting guys and neither one of us are going to give too much leeway when the time comes.”
Townsel says this is the biggest fight of his career because BKFC’s popularity is skyrocketing. The world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion has become a destination for many of the most prized free agents in the fight game while promoting sold-out events around the globe.
With four BKFC bouts under his belt, Townsel considers himself a veteran of bare knuckle fighting, and he wants to make his presence felt.
“I wasn’t one of the originals, but I feel like an OG of the sport, and I’ve established myself as a bare knuckle fighter. You’ve got guys coming in from UFC, Bellator, boxing, kickboxing. I’ve got an MMA background, but this is my profession.
“I am a bare knuckle fighter.”
