Kai Stewart is ready to make history.
The unbeaten 22-year-old Great Falls, MT product will become the youngest champion in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship history if he beats Louie Lopez in their matchup for the vacant BKFC World Featherweight Championship at BKFC 44 on June 9 in Great Falls, MT, LIVE on The BKFC App.
“The greatest of all time in MMA is Jon Jones, and he won his first UFC title at a similar age. This is just one step in my legacy; I’m just getting started at 22 years old,” says Stewart, who’s 3-0 with a pair of KOs since his BKFC debut in 2021.
Some of BKFC’s champions are almost twice as old as Stewart. He says the prospect of a youthful, fresh-faced champ should excite fans.
“Having a young gun come up through the ranks and win a World Championship, it proves that BKFC is much more than a final destination for a fighter’s career,” Stewart says. “You can start here and run with it, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”
Stewart, or “Hefty Bag” as he’s known to fans, is even more excited for this fight because of his opponent.
“I’ve been trying to fight this dude for three years in MMA and he’s pulled out every single time. It’s time that the beef gets settled, we move forward and get ‘er done.”
