Tony “Loco” Soto wasn’t surprised when he was asked to fight British fan-favorite Tyler “El Tornado” Goodjohn.
The two hard-hitting lightweight contenders will meet at BKFC 42 on May 12 in Greenville, SC, LIVE on The BKFC App. Soto tries to climb to 5-0 with a fourth straight stoppage, while the former BKFC title challenger Goodjohn looks to improve to 5-2 with his second KO.
“I knew this fight would happen; I knew one day our paths would cross,” Soto says. “This is a fight that people are going to remember. I think it’s going to be a phenomenal fight.”
Soto praises Goodjohn for his tenacity and technical ability. But the 35-year-old Hickory, NC product insists there are only two possible outcomes waiting for them at BKFC 42.
“It can go to a decision, and that would be in my favor because I’m longer, faster, sharper,” he offers, “or it’ll be a fourth-round TKO for me, cutting him up.”
Soto is characteristically nonchalant when asked how it will feel to climb to 5-0, a very rare feat in the unforgiving world of bare knuckle fighting.
“It’ll feel the same as 4-0 – just another day at the office, and another step towards my ultimate goal of being the world’s best.”
“Loco” says there will be no doubt that he's next in line for the BKFC World Lightweight Championship after the dust settles in South Carolina.
“Being 5-0, I’ll be at the top of the division – I’ll be the No. 1 guy. I’ll be the guy that needs to be recognized at that point.”
