Edgard Plazaola says 2025 is his year.

The Nicaragua-born Miami product returns to the BKFC Squared Circle on Thursday. He’ll look to smash his way to 5-0 against former BKFC World Featherweight Title challenger Louie Lopez at BKFC 70, LIVE worldwide on DAZN from the iconic Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.

Plazaola has knocked out each of his first four opponents under the BKFC banner, and he’s eager to rise to the occasion against Lopez, who he recognizes as his toughest assignment yet in the Squared Circle.

“He’s got double the experience as me with BKFC and he’s fought all the top guys in my division, so I couldn’t be more excited for this matchup,” Plazaola says.

“Regardless of who the opponent is, I’m always getting better, and I’m always looking for the knockout,” he adds. “I’ve proven multiple times that I’m an exciting fighter who’s always looking for the finish, so I expect this outcome to be the same.”

Plazaola isn’t looking past Lopez, but he will be watching intently on April 5 when “King” Kai Stewart defends the BKFC World Featherweight Championship for the fourth time against unbeaten challenger Tommy “The Farmer” Strydom in the Main Event of BKFC 72 in Dubai, LIVE exclusively on DAZN.

Plazaola predicts Stewart will return to the United States with the belt around his waist. He also believes a big win this week over Lopez will put him next in line for a shot at the belt in the stacked BKFC 145-pound weight class.

“I’m the fighter to stop Kai Stewart,” he says with the confidence of a future BKFC World Champion. “I know I’m the man for that job.”
