Cody Schieve has never backed down from a fight.
Whether it was on the street when he was growing up, in the MMA cage where he’s had 11 pro bouts, or in the BKFC Squared Circle, Schieve is always down to scrap.
Not even a hospital stay with pneumonia in January kept him out of his BKFC debut in February against Tyler Sammis at BKFC 36. Schieve’s illness did keep him out of training – and he made his debut on short notice – so the fight didn’t go his way.
Now healthy and backed by a training camp, “Lightning” is ready for his second trip to the BKFC Squared Circle. He takes on the debuting Cole Ferrell at BKFC 42 on Friday in Greenville, SC, LIVE on The BKFC App.
“I’ve been training a lot and working my (expletive) off for this fight,” Schieve says. “People underestimate me, but I’ve been putting in a lot of straight boxing work, and it’s going to show.”
Despite that, Schieve will likely be a decent-sized underdog against Ferrell, who brings a spectacular 11-1 professional MMA record into Friday’s action.
Schieve’s response to that?
“Cole has a really good record and is really well known in the combat sports world, so this is a great opportunity for me to turn some heads and show what I’m really about,” he says.
“It will feel amazing to get this victory.”
