Tom Shoaff is ready to shock the world.
In the Main Event of BKFC 34 on Saturday, Shoaff challenges Luis Palomino, the No. 1-ranked BKFC Pound-for-Pound fighter on the planet, for Palomino’s BKFC World Lightweight Championship.
Palomino is undefeated in his seven BKFC fights. He added to his belt collection by winning the BKFC World Welterweight Championship in his most recent match.
Shoaff’s BKFC record is a more modest 4-3, but he’s riding high on the strength of three straight knockout victories. “A Gentleman of Violence,” as he’s known to hardcore fans, predicts a fourth straight finish in Saturday’s Main Event, LIVE on the BKFC app.
“I don’t think there’s an aura or mystique about him. He’s a very talented fighter and very skilled in the sport of combat, don't get me wrong, but I don’t think there’s anything special about him or over-the-top fantastic. He’s been blessed in his career, but that’s about to end because he has to fight me (on Saturday),” Shoaff says.
“He’s never fought anyone like me, and it’s going to show.”
Shoaff jokes that he’s not looking forward to lugging the BKFC World Lightweight Championship belt back home to Oklahoma. But in a less bragadocious moment he admits it will be a very special milestone in his fighting career, should he be able to pull the upset victory over the undefeated Palomino.
“I’ve been fighting for 15 years. To finally have an opportunity to fight for a world title, and to have the opportunity to fight the No. 1 Pound-for-Pound fighter in the world for the belt, it really puts the last 15 years for me in perspective. It proves to me that all my work and sacrifices have been worth it.
“I set out with a goal and a mission 15 years ago. It’s been a long, arduous road, and I’m even close to being done.”
