Kai Stewart is ready to put the BKFC featherweight roster on notice.
The perfect opportunity to do just that is waiting for him at BKFC 29 in the form of Rusty Crowder on Sept. 10 in Great Falls, MT, LIVE on the BKFC app.
Crowder brings a 4-3 record into fight night, with three of his wins coming by knockout. He’s the No. 2 featherweight in BKFC – one spot ahead of the third-ranked Stewart.
Not for long, Stewart says.
“I’m going to be the No. 1 contender and I’m going to keep my streak of first-round KOs alive. It’s going to be a statement win because nobody has put Rusty away, let alone in the first round.
“I don’t see a different outcome, but if it goes the distance, I’m ready. If it goes south and he rocks me in the first round, it doesn’t matter because I’m going to find a way to win because I want that title shot.”
Stewart lauds Crowder for his toughness, and says he's a step up in competition from previous opponents. But toughness, Stewart says, won’t be enough in the Squared Circle.
“He’s never been finished, but he loses to everybody tough that he fights – and he hasn’t fought anybody like me yet,” Stewart said.
“I just have to be aware of his toughness and go from there.”
