Josh "Stay Down" Watson rising to the occasion

February 22, 2023

Josh "Stay Down" Watson is rising to the occasion.

On Friday at KnuckleMania 3 – the biggest date on the BKFC calendar – Watson knocked out former UFC standout and NFL All Pro defensive lineman Greg Hardy Jr. in Hardy’s highly anticipated BKFC debut.

Watson turned 40 in October, so he knows time is of the essence in his fighting career. That adds pressure to his situation, Watson admits, but the Maine product dealt with any nerves nearly flawlessly on fight night.

“Earlier in my career, I had time to make up for my mistakes. But now, I don’t have that time, so I can’t be losing fights – I need to always be heading in the right direction,” says Watson, who improved to 2-1 with his second straight knockout victory.

Fans around the world are calling for Watson to go for his third straight KO against "Big" Ben Rothwell, the UFC legend who recently burst onto the BKFC scene with a 19-second KO over Bobo O’Bannon.

That sounds good to Watson, who’s hungry to keep the good times rolling.

“I’ll knock his ass out and they can call me ‘The Giant Slayer.’”
