Howard Davis is focused only on what he can control – and the hard-hitting featherweight was fully in control at BKFC 45.
On Friday at the highly anticipated event in Hollywood, FL, Davis improved to 4-1-1 in the Squared Circle with a 92-second KO over Eduardo Peralta in their Feature Fight showdown.
Davis has been vocal about getting the first shot at newly crowned BKFC World Featherweight Champion Kai Stewart (4-0). The Plantation, FL fighter hopes Friday’s KO – the third of his BKFC career – is enough to solidify his first shot at the title. But, at the same time, he knows he isn’t a BKFC Matchmaker – his job is to fight.
“I believe I’m first in line, but at the end of the day that’s not my decision. I can’t control who I fight next; I can just say yes when the call does come in,” Davis says.
“I’m a fighter – I fight.”
Davis’ goal is to remain active and keep adding to his resume. He’s not wanting to sit on the sideline and wait for a title shot, but he can’t help but think about how sweet it will be when the belt is finally wrapped around his waist.
“That’s going to feel amazing,” he says. “To be honest, winning the title was never my goal. My intention was to create a legal, stable, sustainable way to provide for my family.
“Having that belt will be great for myself and my family.”
