Esteban Rodriguez can hardly contain his excitement heading into his third trip to the Squared Circle at BKFC 49.
“On a scale of one to 1,000,000, I’d say (my excitement level is at) infinity,” the jovial cruiserweight contender says with a laugh before he battles John Michael Escoboza on Aug. 25 in Miami, LIVE on The BKFC App.
The Grand Rapids, MI product has kicked off his BKFC career with back-to-back KO victories. He knows 3-0 is an important milestone in the organization, and he’s ready to rise to the occasion in Miami.
“I’m going to make this fight look easy, man. If he can’t handle the pressure, I’m going to finish it in the first round,” he says. “If he can handle the pressure, we’ll definitely take care of business in the second round.”
Rodriguez knows another big victory could land him a spot in the Top 5 rankings, but he’s fighting for bigger reasons.
“This is my chance to solidify my status as one of the greatest fighters in my weight class in the world, and it’s the next stepping stone to prove to the next generation that dreams really do come true if you put the work in, and the heart, dedication and sacrifice,” Rodriguez says.
“I’m just an ordinary man coming in off the street, chasing a dream with everything I’ve got.”
Rodriguez is eager to up his record to 3-0, but he says he’s just getting started.
“I’m just getting started, man – I’m just getting started. I’m going to clean out the whole division, just watch.”
