The reality is Eric Dodson was known to fight fans only as John Dodson’s younger brother when he signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
But after back-to-back, first-round knockouts, the younger Dodson has quickly established himself as a fast-rising prospect in the BKFC’s stacked featherweight division.
“I think most people didn’t realize John even had a brother until recently, but more and more people are more curious now as to what I can do,” says Eric, who defeated Gene Perez at KnuckleMania 3 on Friday in Albuquerque, NM.
“I don’t mind being in his shadow,” he adds with a laugh. “He’s been doing this a long time, he has a great name behind him, and I respect it.”
That being said, Eric is eager to build his own legacy.
“I want to fight as much as possible because I don’t have a lot of fights under my belt and I am a little older in this game. I’ve got a limited time to work with, so I want to get as many fights as I can and build myself up as quickly as possible,” he says.
“I believe my brother is in line for a title shot, and that’s exactly where I want to be soon. I want us both to hold BKFC belts at the same time.”
