Drako Rodriguez was built for BKFC

Drako Rodriguez has an impressive MMA resume.

All but one of the UFC vet’s seven victories have come by stoppage. His body of work includes four wins by submission and a pair of knockouts.

Despite his prowess in the cage, Rodriguez believes that bare knuckle fighting is a better fit for him than MMA – at least in some ways.

“Growing up in Mexico and Texas, we’d get into a lot of fights. It wasn’t a bad thing and nobody got too hurt, but we just didn’t have anything to do except fight with our fists,” he says with a laugh.

“In the beginning, I started MMA before I had any other experience in training, so I’ve been doing everything since the beginning. MMA was my first love and I didn’t know much about boxing, but my boxing coach made me fall in love with striking.”

Rodriguez, 28, returns to the BKFC Squared Circle for the second time against Trever Bradshaw (1-0, 1 KO) at BKFC 65 on Sept. 6 at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, UT, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App. Rodriguez is looking to improve to 2-0 with a second straight stoppage victory under the BKFC banner.

Rodriguez has a tall task waiting for him in Utah, but, as he says it, “as a martial artist you should always be trying to challenge yourself as much as possible.”

“When I try a sport, I always want to be the World Champion,” he adds. “That’s exactly what I’m aiming for with BKFC.”
