David Mundell takes aim at Mike Perry after big win at BKFC 47

David “Redneck” Mundell defended his BKFC World Middleweight Championship for the first time Friday with a second-round KO over Mike “The Marine” Richman in the Main Event of BKFC 47 in Lakeland, FL.

It’s commonly said that a fighter isn’t truly a champion until they defend their belt. If that’s the case, it’s mission accomplished for Mundell, who improved to 7-1 with Friday’s successful title defense.

“That win was super important,” the 31-year-old Clearwater, FL fighter says. “I wanted to solidify the fact that I’m the best in the world in my weight class, and I wanted to prove all my doubters wrong.”

Mundell has now won five straight, with his last three victories coming by stoppage. Now, he has his sights set on just one man – combat sports icon “Platinum” Mike Perry (3-0, 1 KO).

“That’s the only fight I want right now,” Mundell says. “I don’t really see anyone else who is deserving of a title shot at this point, and that’s a great matchup for me.”

Mundell has a simple prediction for a matchup with Perry.

“I’d put him to sleep.”
