David Mundell hungrier than ever heading into second BKFC title defense

Winning a BKFC World Championship is a life-changing experience for most fighters.

With all due respect, that’s not exactly the case for David “Redneck” Mundell, who won the BKFC World Middleweight Championship at BKFC 34 and defended it at BKFC 47.

“Not really,” the humble Mundell says when asked if anything has changed since he struck gold.

“Same old me just chugging along, trying to make it big.”

Prior to his bare knuckle fighting debut at BKFC 6 in 2019, Mundell was a fast-rising prospect in the world of MMA. He’s seen countless promising careers derailed when a fighter wins a championship and gets complacent. Mundell has always worked hard, but he’s only cranked up the intensity in his training and preparations since having the belt wrapped around his waist.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great accomplishment to get the belt, but there’s a lot more that still needs to be done,” the 32-year-old Oldsmar, FL fighter says.

“I’m just getting started.”

Mundell takes the next step in his journey in the Main Event of BKFC 53, when he defends his BKFC World Middleweight Championship for a second time against undefeated challenger Doug “ColdRed” Coltrane (3-0, 2 KOs), LIVE on The BKFC App on Nov. 3 from Orlando.

The most likely outcome for fight night?

“Definitely a finish.”
