Darrick Gates is making up for lost time.
After earning his first BKFC victory on June 9 with a first-round knockout at BKFC 44, Gates is already set to return to action against Marc Entenberg at BKFC 48 on Aug. 11 in Albuquerque, NM, LIVE on The BKFC App.
Gates was hopeful for a fast turnaround after his stoppage victory in Great Falls, MT, but he wasn’t expecting it to happen so quickly. That being said, he jumped at the opportunity when the call came in from BKFC Matchmaker Nate Shook.
“I said let’s do it,” the Eagle, ID product says with a chuckle.
Gates kicked off his BKFC career with back-to-back losses, and his third bout resulted in a No Contest from an accidental headbutt. But Gates was undeterred by his early setbacks. Now that he has his first win under his belt, he’s ready to rack up a lot more.
“I’m willing to take on anybody,” says Gates, who predicts a second-round stoppage over Entenberg. “Throw me in with the champ, and my mindset is going to be the same.”
