Bobby Taylor punching above his weight

October 19, 2022

Bobby Taylor punches above his weight.

The BKFC’s No. 5-ranked lightweight contender hails from Pocahontas, TN – “a real small town” with a population of about 200 along the Tennessee-Mississippi border. Taylor works full time in the construction industry and has to drive over an hour each way to his gym.

Despite the odds, the 44-year-old “ODB” has been victorious in four of his first five bare knuckle fights. His most recent win – a first-round KO over Arthur Walcott-Ceesay in June – bolstered his spot among the big dogs in the BKFC’s stacked lightweight rankings.

“I fought locally for a number of years, so it’s awesome to be a part of a global organization like BKFC,” says Taylor, a veteran of 17 professional MMA bouts.

“I’ve found a sport where my skill set really allows me to excel, and I’m really enjoying it. I’m just a small town guy trying to make the most of my opportunity.”

Taylor returns to action under the bright lights on Nov. 5 in Orlando, FL, as he welcomes the debuting Gabriel Freyre to the Squared Circle at BKFC 32, LIVE on the BKFC app

He predicts a fourth knockout victory in Florida, and hopes he’s just another win or two away from a shot at the BKFC World Lightweight Championship.

“I know that I can compete at the highest level,” Taylor says. “At the same time, I’m 44, so I know that the end is coming, but I’ve still got at least a few good years in this sport left.”
